Desired Constellation was debuted live at Björk's Greatest Hits Tour in 2003. The song was created from a sample of Björk singing the phrase Im not sure what to do with it from Hidden Place on her previous album, Vespertine. Rare

First off, this might be the ugliest packaging ever. Extremely ugly collage plus some water ripple photoshop effect on the text = bad.

Slow layered organ drone, crumbling noise and a metallic sounding whistle is the formula used for “A Secret Code Carved”. The crackle has some interesting movement but otherwise an uninspired arrangement.

Next we have a subterranean hum paired with quick repeating samples leading into typical Garza tape loop plus echo territory. A sputtering digital noise enters and seems to only detract from the track.

Scrapes and feedback join a gong-like resonance on “Cells That Haven’t Been Touched”. The droning tones are subtle and lovely but the noise scattered on top feels directionless and unnecessarily spastic. If i wasn’t relaxing i would have got up to fast-forward through the remainder of this side.

The tape flips and I know a 12:18 track is coming up on the b-side of a C40. Not my favorite having 8 minutes of silence at the tail end.

Luckily the B-side really steps up the arrangement quality from the beginning. Slow aqueous gamelan sounds looping with a deeply submerged middle eastern sounding melody barely audible. Chimes and ethereal voices round out the soundscape. Great to hear this exercise in restraint given the lack of identity on the A side. This piece transitions to a scratchy rumble accompanied by ethereal synth wandering and eventually what i can only assume is repeated Björk sample. Personally would have preferred hearing this track spanning both sides of a C12.

The cover states that this recording is a tribute to Björk, girl might be bummed by the A side.
